Byrd Watching
"This is it, do or die for me," Byrd said. "I’ve never been one to put pressure on myself but this my last best chance to re-establish myself as an everyday player. I definitely feel I can do it. I’ve done it before. If I couldn’t, I’d walk into [Washington's] office and tell them that I’m a fourth outfielder. But I don’t believe that. I believe I can play every day." -M. Byrd
I guess this is why Byrd has done so well. Listening to a player say this, and the effort he has put on the field goes to show this statement isn’t just for the media, he truley believe’s it. We need to all be Byrd fans because he is giving all that he’s got to be on that field and to help contribute to a winning team.
You agree with me!!!!

Last nights game.
Last night was my first Rangers game as a married man. It was fun we had a good time. The game though was an interesting, probably some of the best Rangers ball I’ve seen so far, unfortunately it was all for not. I think part of it lays on the shoulder of Ramon Vasquez, how did he miss that ball while in the shift on Travis Hafner, BAD PLAY. I was excited that the Rangers came back and scored some runs in the bottom of the inning. I felt like the bottom of the line up had something to prove at the plate tonight, 6 of the first 7 hits were from the bottom of the line up. I wasn’t impressed with Laird’s home run, because he was trying to hit it his entire AB. Typically that’s not to bad, but in that situation, runner at 2nd, 2 outs, all we need is a base hit to score the runner. Homerun is better obviously but he should have let that be an accident, not his primary decision. This team really needs number 10, he is their true leader and a force to be reckoned with in the 2 spot. Kenny was VERY unlucky last night, but he’ll bounce back. And BOOOO Tex, I got some crazy looks last night, but I did boo him at every at bat. The other thing that concerned me is the owner, why can’t he stay past the 8th inning. No wonder fans don’t stay, why would they. Mark Cuban would be good for baseball because he doesn’t just write the checks, he invest in his teams both on and off the court.
We did see the wave last night, and I HATE THE WAVE. Ok I don’t hate it, but I hate how missused it is. Why are we doing the wave during a Rangers’ AB? First of all once the Rangers score the wave will die for the night not to return till the next day. Do it when the other team is batting, if you decide to do it. Second let’s create noise and excitement from what is going on down on the field. When there is a full count let’s make some noise, when your pitcher is doing a great job, make some noise. The wave is fake, make some real noise.
I hate the internet!!!
I just typed a nice big blog, took about 30 mins to type and lost it all because of an HTML error. Dang the internet!!!!!!!
Anways going to the game tonight with my beautiful wife, I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow.
Pro Bonds, what about Griffey.
I have heard a lot of news about Ken Griffey Jr. lately. So BOnds is going to break the home run record which is cool, I’m glad that it will happen because I don’t believe that he is the monster everyone makes him out to be. Like Aaron back in the day with race, this is Bond’s struggle, however I hope that it will make breaking the biggest sports record something that no longer requires death threats, or slander, partially because nobody likes Bond’s so whoever breaks it next will get more backing from fans. This is where Griffey comes into the conversation, just think Griffey at my last count was at 582, he will need possibly 200 home runs to break the record which will be 5, 40 home run seasons, possibly a 6th for cushion. With guys like Julio Franco, Kenny Lofton, Barry Bonds, and Rickey Henderson playing into their forty’s is it such a stretch that Griffey wouldn’t be the next one. He is also helped by the fact that the American League offers the DH position and that has helped players like the Big Hurt and Current Ranger Slammin Sammy. I do believe, unfortunately, that A-Rod will end up breaking any record that is set, and will probably be the first to hit 800, but won’t it be nice to see the homerun record broken not once, not twice, but possibly three times.
Last nights game was great. I liked the hustle of Kenny Lofton to get a triple of the first pitch and the ability of Michael Young, aka Mr. Clutch, to score Lofton on the next pitch. The Rangers did a great job of answering Oaklands scoring innnings by scorring the next half inning. Robinson didn’t look good at all and looks as though he may be getting send to Triple A. Great win though last night by the boys was a fun game to watch.
Seattle Honeymoon, Always time for Baseball.
So last week was my honeymoon. Yes I got married on 7-7-07, probably the most popular day to get married in the past century. We were engaged a year ago though before all the 7-7-07 hype started. We chose the date because…..well I don’t want to type that much but in a nutshell it just fit for us. We went to Seattle for our honeymoon and had a great time. I suggest going, we had a great time and there were plenty of things to do, almost to many. We did go to a game while we were there and I saw some REAL baseball. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Rangers but I was impressed seeing sacrifices, stolen bases, hitting behind runners, and SUBSTITUTIONS. I had a great time at the game and think that the Rangers could learn a few things from the people at Safeco Field. They have an outstanding ballpark that is open and spacious, loved it.
PS MARLON BYRD ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF. They need to start selling his T-shirt because my wife and I will buy his shirts, we love him.
PSS. SEE YA TEX. We need to send his butt out of here and get somebody that wants to contribute to a winning team, and just be placed on one. Get with it TEX, try harder to move people around the bases and we might have a winner, it does no good to strike out 3 times just to get 1 home run. Quite padding your numbers here and go somewhere else.
